Overcoming Shyness and Building Self Confidence

Overcoming Shyness and Building Self ConfidenceHave you ever met someone who can walk into a room full of strangers and by the time he leaves almost everyone knows his name? These socialites have a charisma about them that magnetically draws people towards them. This ability is great to have, especially in the work place.

You can learn how to overcome your shyness and become that person with a little effort on your part.

You have to come across as a genuine person. Be genuinely happy to be in the presence of people and they will be happy to have you around. If you feel uncomfortable in large groups, join a smaller circle and just try being nice to everyone.

Being a good listener is a great attribute to have. Most shy people are generally great listeners already as we’re usually afraid to talk. Listen closely to every word said as if it were the most interesting thing you’ve ever heard. Do not stress yourself by trying to think of what to say when they have finished talking. I’ve found myself in situations where I’ve had absolutely nothing to say but while intently listening to someone else, I would find some common interests or exploratory questions that needed answering.

Modify any bad habits that may deter people. If you know that your always pessimistic, try chatting positively. Your bad traits haven’t helped you so far, so why are you keeping them? If you have a low alcohol tolerance, don’t drink. You don’t need alcohol as a confidence booster. A clear mind is key to conversation.

There is so much information available to help you to redefine yourself. Taking one step at a time, you will slowly find yourself running towards success. I’ve changed my life and I hope you will follow my example. For more in-depth help take a look at this article entitled Overcoming Shyness and Building Self Confidence
